WOW!

WOW! What a week! Our fifth grade students really shined at World of Work (AKA "WOW") this week. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn first hand from many local businesses. We thank the PTA for their work on connecting our students to Arlington Heights businesses.

After a productive morning of work, the students were greeted back at Dryden by the South Middle School cardinal mascot! Then, it was time to enjoy a special 5th grade celebration luncheon from the PTA.

Can you see who returned to the courtyard? Gertrude the Duck! Some students discovered her while they were observing signs of spring in the courtyard. Gertrude has been returning to the Dryden courtyard to lay eggs and nest until her ducklings hatch for over 20 years!

Fourth grade students continued Skyping and collaborating with their peers in Brazil this week. They worked hard to design contraptions that could potentially solve the weather problems in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. It was fun to share their inventions with their Brazilian friends and to learn what their peers from Brazil created.

On Administrative Professionals Day, we celebrated Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Sprenger. They work very hard to take extra good care of the students, families and staff at Dryden. We are so thankful for all they do!

We are also very thankful for the outstanding volunteers we have at Dryden. So far, Dryden is 188 volunteers strong for this school year. Because of their involvement, our students benefit from many enriching clubs, special events and personalized learning experiences. We celebrated our volunteers this past week with a special breakfast and parade. The students decorated the commons and made this special video thanking our volunteers: https://safeshare.tv/x/AJ0Jzwoqhx0
