#DrydenRocks

Many of us at Dryden use Twitter for our professional learning and for highlighting the amazing things that are happening at school on a daily basis. You can follow us on @DrydenSchool or @AkemiSessler. #FormerDolphins highlights the wonderful accomplishments of students who previously attended Dryden. We recently added the hashtag, #DrydenRocks. Following are some examples from the week of why we believe Dryden rocks:

Walk to School Day
We had wonderful participation by our students and staff! What a healthy, fun way to start our day together! Thanks to all who participated!

5th Grade Musical Performance
The fifth grade students gave outstanding vocal, instrumental, dance and dramatic performances! They truly rocked!

Recognizing Earth Day
Second grade students made and used jump ropes out of plastic bags after reading the book One Plastic Bag. What a great way to reduce and reuse!

Skyping with Students in Brazil
Fourth grade students at Dryden and in Brazil read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. During their first Skype session, they discussed the problems the story characters encountered. Next, they will be designing solutions to the weather-related problems in the story. We're excited to see what their creative minds will devise!

Book Buddies Club
It's been wonderful to see children across all of the grade levels come together to read and talk about some of their favorite books! We thank Mrs. Nolan, our literacy teacher, for facilitating this great opportunity for our book lovers.

ABC/25 Just Move It Challenge
What a great turnout from Dryden! We are thankful to all of our Dryden families and staff who were able to participate in this good cause to raise money for the ABC/25 Foundation. To promote innovation and excellence in education, the ABC/25 Foundation provides many grants to teachers in our school district. It was a beautiful morning to be outside running and walking with friends and family!

Lastly, congratulations to Art Teacher, Mrs. Fuglestad, and the 5th Grade Students who worked with her in creating the "FugleFlick", Don't Crush My Dreams. This film was recently shown at the Screen Test Student Fest Film Festival at the Prairie Center for the Performing Arts in Schaumburg, Illinois. You can read more about this wonderful experience on Mrs. Fuglestad's blog
