Fun & Exciting

There are a lot of fun and exciting things happening at Dryden!

PTA Running Club is underway! It's great to see so many students and parents enjoying healthy exercise before the start of the school day.

Fifth-grade students are immersing themselves in the history of the United States by creating costumes and roleplaying various Patriots and Loyalists as they debate whether or not the original colonies should form their own country.

Students are learning and practicing many important skills in music and physical education classes, but Mr. Deptula and Mr. Gries always find a way to incorporate some silly fun so the children can laugh and let off some steam.

Whether independently or with a buddy, our students have options for making their learning fun and engaging.
This student can listen to herself read the words to this book by using the PVC pipe "telephone".

This pair of students found a standing desk to quiz each other and practice spelling words.

All week the excitement has been building as we got closer and closer to the kickoff of our One Book One School program with A Nest for Celeste by Henry Cole.

Mrs. Lane surprised the students with a beautiful illustration of Celeste the mouse.

LMC Director Mrs. O'Kelly helped us kick off One Book One School with a wonderful assembly.

There was a video of students and staff sharing their love of reading.

We even learned of a little mouse that will be hiding in different spots around Dryden as we read this book together. I wonder where we will find her!

At the end of the assembly the children squealed with surprise to have a special visit from Celeste the Mouse!

Stay tuned for more fun and exciting adventures as we read Nest for Celeste together over the next few weeks, and follow our hashtag #1Book1Dryden on Twitter.
