Growing, Growing, Growing!

This past week our fifth grade students have demonstrated how much they have grown up over their years at Dryden. They put on a spectacular musical performance under the creative leadership of music teacher, Mr. Deptula, and with the help of our wonderful PTA.

The audience was wowed by complex xylophone ensembles,

high-energy singing,

 and dynamic dancing!

The fifth grade then went on to experience the World of Work.

Students create resumes and are placed with various local businesses to learn about different careers and the different ways small businesses operate.

This is a great way for the children to see how math skills, teamwork, and caring customer service contribute to successful careers.

We thank our PTA, local businesses and community organizations for making this a worthwhile day for our students!

Upon returning from World of Work, our fifth grade students are greeted back at Dryden by the South Middle School cardinal mascot! It's bittersweet to see that they are ready to go to middle school!

We thank the PTA for a lovely pizza luncheon after World of Work,

and for the time for students to discuss and reflect on their various work experiences.

What a great group of fifth graders! They have such a bright and promising future to look forward to!

Meanwhile, our fourth grade students are transitioning into becoming the leaders of our school.
Here they are with Mayor Hayes at the park district's Arbor Day dedication.

They helped to plant a beautiful beech tree at Dryden Park.

During the ceremony, they recited the poem, "Advice from a Tree" and shared a beautiful tree mural that they made.

Spring is definitely a time of year when we can see that everything and everyone is growing, growing, growing!
